‘MEDICAL FRAUD’: Riley Gaines Warns of Risks in Gender-Affirming Care
Riley Gaines has raised alarms about gender-affirming care, claiming that its adverse effects go beyond sports and labeling it as “medical fraud.” She argues that the risks associated with these treatments are not fully disclosed, sparking a broader debate on their safety and ethics.
Riley Gaines has become a prominent advocate for preserving fairness in women’s sports amid the ongoing debate over transgender athlete inclusion. Now, the former NCAA swimmer is highlighting a more concerning issue related to the rise in gender-affirming care, stressing that its negative consequences extend beyond sports and impact broader aspects of health and well-being.
“There’s no way to replace the body parts I lost,” Mosley said, reflecting on her surgical treatment after being misgendered as a boy. Born female, Mosley began taking male hormones and had her breasts removed at 18, leaving permanent scars. Despite the typical infertility from such treatments, she recently gave birth via C-section. However, the gender-affirming care led to complications including narrow hips, high insulin levels, and atrophy of her uterus, bladder, and vagina.
Walt Heyer, founder of the Sex Change Regret organization, labeled the push for gender-affirming care as “the biggest medical fraud of our lifetime,” criticizing the lack of transparency about its potential long-term effects.
